The USAF installed an underground hydrant and distribution system beneath the eastern portion of Apron I. There are a total of ten concrete refuelling boxes and associated underground piping that were previously connected to four one million - litre above ground storage tanks (AST). In 1999 the ASTs were removed, however, the hydrant boxes and piping remained. A sampling program indicated contaminated soil is located below Apron I. It is unknown if fuel is still inside the piping and associated hydrant boxes. Fuel boxes removed and lines removed, archive site.
