Security Awareness Week
Security Awareness Week is an annual event held during the second week of February in which departments are invited to promote good security practices and to share them government-wide. It is an excellent opportunity to increase employee awareness and to promote departmental security services. Security awareness is a key element of the departmental security program under the Policy on Government Security.
The concept of Security Awareness Week was conceived in 2002 through collaboration between the TBS, the Privy Council Office and several departments and agencies of the Government of Canada. Since the inaugural Security Awareness Week in February 2003, it has been a success thanks to the efforts of departmental security practitioners, the Government of Canada security community, and interdepartmental groups such as the Security Awareness Working Group.
Tools for organizations
Every year, TBS develops products to help departmental security practitioners promote Security Awareness Week within their organizations. The products listed below are available for your use. The Procedures for Publishing supports greening government initiatives and the increased use of e-publications. As such, we are encouraging departments to develop products with these guidelines in mind and to keep printed products to a minimum. If you encounter any difficulties in accessing these files, please contact the Security and Identity Management Division.
