2009-2010 Part III - Departmental Performance Reports (DPR)

Description of Figure 4 Performance Management Framework

This diagram is presented in the form of a pyramid without its top point. It is divided into four horizontal bands. The top band is labelled "Mandate: To ensure that Canadians have access to a trusted source of statistics."

Below this is a band called "Access," representing one aspect of the mandate.

The next band down is divided into two horizontal sub-bands. The top part is called "Trust," representing the other aspect of the mandate. Below that and joined to it is a second sub-band. The left side of it is called "Quality" and the right, "Relevance." These two aspects must be present in statistics for users to be able trust them.

The third and lowest band is called "Organizational efficiency," a necessary practice for Statistics Canada to maximize the access, relevance and quality of its data.

Three borders on the diagram represent the enablers that allow Statistics Canada to achieve these outcomes. On the left side is "Human resources," on the right side is "Governance," and across the base is "Risk management."
