Program Activity Architecture

The chart presents the Department of Justice Canada's Program Activity Architecture (PAA). The PAA is composed of Strategic outcomes, which are supported by Program activities and Program sub-activities. Strategic outcome 1 – A fair, relevant and accessible justice system that reflects Canadian values – is supported by two (2) Program activities: Justice policies, laws and programs and the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for victims of crime. Program activity "Justice policies, laws and programs" is supported by five (5) Program sub-activities: Criminal Justice; Access to Justice; Family Justice; Aboriginal Justice; and Private International Law and Public Law. Strategic outcome 2 – A federal government that is supported by effective and responsive legal services – is supported by one (1) Program activity – Services to government. This Program activity is supported by six (6) Program sub-activities: Legal services to the Justice and Government-at-large Portfolio; Legal services to the Aboriginal Affairs Portfolio; Legal services to the Business and Regulatory Law Portfolio; Legal services to the Central Agencies Portfolio; Legal services to the Public Safety, Defence and Immigration Portfolio; Legal services to the Tax Law Services Portfolio. Furthermore, a fourth Program activity – Internal Services – supports all the Department's activities and is supported by three (3) Program sub activities: Governance and Management Support; Resource Management Services; and Asset Management Services.
