- Article VIII of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement signed April 4, 1949, as amended, deals with claims for damages to third parties arising from accidents in which a member of a visiting force was involved. This account is charged with the amount recoverable from other states, for claims for damages amount recoverable from other states, for claims for damages which took place in Canada, and is credited with recoveries.
- This account was established for the purpose of financing: (a) public funds imprest and public funds advance accounts; (b) standing advances; (c) authorized loans and advances to employees posted abroad; and (d) authorized recoverable advances to establish military messes and canteens. The total amount authorized to be outstanding at any time is $120,000,000 as last amended by National Defence Vote L11b, Appropriation Act No. 4, 2001-2002.
