Public Service Modernization Act Legislative Review

In 2003, Parliament passed the Public Service Modernization Act which made significant changes to the legislative framework for staffing, labour relations, learning and human resources management within the federal public service. The Public Service Employment Act and the Public Service Labour Relations Act require a one-time five-year review of the statutes, their administration and operation. In 2009, the Prime Minister appointed Susan Cartwright, Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, to lead this review process for both Acts, and prepare a report for the President of the Treasury Board to be tabled in Parliament.

The Report of the Review of the Public Service Modernization Act was tabled in Parliament on December 21, 2011.
