Long description for image: Figure 1: A typical information management planning framework

A typical information management planning framework is driven by the institutional mission, objectives, strategies and operational plans. From these, objectives and strategies are developed every 3-5 years which identify the opportunities and risks to be considered, identify the results to be achieved and the approach selected to achieve objectives. These are used to develop an Information Management Plan which identifies goals and actions to achieve identified objectives. These contribute to the implementation of the plan during which tasks, targets, schedules and resource requirements for acquisitions and projects are identified.
