Date:

To: Heads of Human Resources; Heads of Compensation; Heads of Labour Relations; Chiefs of Staffing

On May 13, 2009, I wrote to you to announce the coming into force of the Policy on Terms and Conditions of Employment as well as three policy instruments. At that time, I also mentioned that other policy instruments would be issued.

Today, I am pleased to announce the coming into force of the Directive on Union Dues, which takes effect . This Directive replaces the Union Dues Check-Off Policy. It strengthens departmental accountability. It also clarifies functional specialists’ responsibilities and the processes to be followed.

You will find attached for your information the Directive, a reference table which will be particularly appreciated by the Compensation community, as well as Frequently Asked Questions that you can share with the Compensation, Staffing and Labour Relations communities.
