At CIOB, the Security and Identity Management function involves:
- Providing strategic direction and oversight for the development and implementation
of the Policy on Government Security and associated directives, standards and
guidelines;
- Providing strategic direction and oversight for Government-wide transformation
initiatives in the security and identity management domains in support of whole-of-government
strategic and operational priorities (e.g. Proactive Defense Strategy, Federation
of Identity Management, Cyber Authentication Renewal, GC IT Incident Management
Plan, Review of the Security Screening of Individuals, Shared Access Card);
- Providing strategic direction and oversight for the provision of support
to the CIO in the management of ADM-level policy committees for security and
identity management;
- Overseeing the review and assessment of all investment plans and submissions
made by departments and agencies to TBS for the approval of government systems
in light of security and identity management considerations;
- Conducting annual assessments under the Management Accountability Framework
for the Security and Business Continuity Area of Management to identify security
management weaknesses in individual departments and agencies, and ultimately
on a government wide basis; and
- Providing leadership and support to security communities (Chief Information
Officers, Departmental Security Officers and Information Technology Security
Coordinators, security practitioners) by means of regular inter-departmental
meetings and security training and awareness sessions.
