Targets / Strategies / Comments

  1. Training for Procurement and Materiel Management Staff – The PSST Procurement and Materiel Management staff will complete the Green Procurement course (C215) offered by the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) during fiscal year 2012-13.
  2. Training for Acquisition Cardholders – The online Green Procurement course (C215) offered by the CSPS will be a mandatory course for designated acquisition cardholders as part of their fiscal year 2012-13 training plan.
  3. Performance Evaluations – Environmental considerations will be included in the evaluations of designated managers and functional heads of procurement and materiel management.
  4. Procurement Processes and Controls – The PSST’s management will work to ensure that all procurement decisions are consistent with the Policy on Green Procurement.  An internal committee will meet quarterly to establish management processes and controls to identify environmental risks and mitigation considerations.
  5. Use of Green Consolidated Procurement Instruments – The PSST purchases primarily involve office supplies, office furniture and IT equipment. These purchases are made through the use of the PWGSC Standing Offer on products and services that provide best prices, better quality and a green procurement guarantee (e.g. recycled material, environmental performance).  In fiscal year 2012-13, the PSST will track and report on the use of green consolidated procurement instruments and purchases that include environmental considerations.
  6. Reduction Initiatives for Specific Goods – In fiscal year 2012-13, the PSST will continue to assess possible reduction initiatives for specific goods.
