Green Procurement

Targets / Strategies / Comments

  1. Training for Procurement and Materiel Management Staff - The PSLRB Procurement and Materiel Management staff will complete the Green Procurement course (C215) offered by the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) during fiscal year 2011-12.
  2. Training for Acquisition Cardholders - The online Green Procurement course (C215) offered by the CSPS will be a recommended course for designated acquisition cardholders as part of their fiscal year 2011-12 training plan.
  3. Performance Evaluations - Environmental considerations will be included in the evaluations of designated managers and functional heads of procurement and materiel management.
  4. Procurement Processes and Controls - The PSLRB has mandated the functional head of procurement to address all aspects of the Policy on Green Procurement. Plans will be made to define environmental considerations in order to improve the integration in the procurement decision making, with respect to management processes and controls.
  5. Use of Green Consolidated Procurement Instruments - The PSLRB purchases primarily involve office supplies, office furniture and IT equipment. These purchases are made through the use of the PWGSC Standing Offer on products and services that provide best prices, better quality and a green procurement guarantee (e.g., recycled material, environmental performance). In fiscal year 2011-12, the PSLRB will amend its financial coding system to capture and track the use of green consolidated procurement instruments and purchases that include environmental considerations.
  6. Reduction Initiatives for Specific Goods - In fiscal year 2011-12, the PSLRB will assess possible reduction initiatives for specific goods.
