This diagram shows Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s former Program Activity Architecture for 2010-2011 (on the left side) and the new one for 2011–2012 (on the right side) and how the previous Strategic Outcomes (SO) correspond to the new ones. The former SO 1, Migration that significantly benefits Canada’s economic, social and cultural development, while protecting the health, safety and security of Canadians, corresponds to three of the new SOs: SO 1, Migration of permanent and temporary residents that strengthens Canada’s economy; SO 2, Family and humanitarian migration that reunites families and offers protection to the displaced and persecuted; and SO 4, Managed migration that promotes Canadian interests and protects the health, safety and security of Canadians.

The former SO 2, International recognition and acceptance of the principles of managed migration consistent with Canada’s broader foreign policy agenda, and protection of refugees in Canada, corresponds to two of the new SOs: SO 2, Family and humanitarian migration that reunites families and offers protection to the displaced and persecuted; and SO 4, Managed migration that promotes Canadian interests and protects the health, safety and security of Canadians.

As well the former SO 3, Successful integration of newcomers into society and promotion of Canadian citizenship corresponds to two of the new SOs: SO 3, Newcomers and citizens participate to their full potential in fostering an integrated society; and SO 4, Managed migration that promotes Canadian interests and protects the health, safety and security of Canadians.
