Chart 1  Performance management framework diagram

This diagram is presented in the form of a pyramid. It is divided into four horizontal bands. The top band is labelled "Mandate: To ensure that Canadians have access to a trusted source of statistics."

Below this are three more bands, each representing one aspect of the mandate.

The first is called "Access."

The next band down, called "Trust," is further divided into "Quality" and "Relevance," which must be present in statistics for users to be able trust them.

The third and lowest band is called "Organizational efficiency," a necessary practice for Statistics Canada to maximize the access, relevance and quality of its data.

Three borders on the diagram represent the enablers that allow Statistics Canada to achieve these outcomes. On the left side is "Human resources," on the right side is "Governance," and across the base is "Risk management."
