This chart shows the relationship between the department’s four ongoing operational priorities and the department’s strategic outcomes as well as the relationship between the department’s two new management priorities and the internal services program activity.

The chart reads from top to bottom. The operational priorities are presented in a quadrant. The four equal-sized boxes are numbered to identify the content represented in each box.

  • Box 1 shows operational priority: advancing trade and competitiveness through the transportation system, which will contribute to strategic outcome 1: an efficient transportation system
  • Box 2 is below box 1 and shows operational priority: advancing the clean air agenda through new transportation emission regulations, which will contribute to strategic outcome 2: clean transportation system
  • Box 3 is to the right of box 1 and shows operational priority: strengthening transportation, which will contribute to safety strategic outcome 3: a safe transportation system.
  • Box 4 is below box 3 and to the right of box 2 and shows operational priority: strengthening transportation security, which will contribute to strategic outcome 4: a secure transportation system.

The operational priorities are presented in box 5, which is below the quadrant. The management priorities: enhancing portfolio governance through integrated management strategies as well as supporting public service renewal and improving people management will contribute to the internal services program activity.
