Man appears on screen: Well, the project started off small enough but it was an attempt to get three countries to agree on a clean energy mix. A bit of an ambitious project trying to get three countries to agree. But we started the work and it became obvious that as the global energy conversation changed following the Paris climate talks, that North America had an opportunity here to become a global climate change leader.

First woman appears on screen: First and foremost we think of collaborating with the U.S. and Mexico colleagues on this and, leading up to the ministerial, really, actually, this project started a few years earlier in building those relationships with the U.S. and Mexico so that we could talk about our common interests in the energy sector and in helping to improve the lives of Canadians, Mexicans and Americans in relation to energy.

Man appears on screen: It’s important to be able to position Canada as a global partner and a global leader. And, through the public service I’m able to do that.

Second woman appears on screen: The fact that I can sit at a table and represent our government, represent our interests, represent industry and their interests and speak to that – it’s an honour.

Third woman appears on screen: If you’re interested a career in the public service, take some time to explore all the different options offers. With so many programs and positions available, you can find a job that fits you. People can decide what type of career suits them the best. I would tell them to really take the time to evaluate all the opportunities.

Second woman appears on screen: When you do something that you like to do and people recognize the effort and the work that’s required to go in to delivering something, it is pride. It’s really just a wonderful opportunity to say I was part of this. It went really, really well, we worked extremely well together and we delivered. And that means a lot. When you see what we delivered and you see it through the media and you see it through our successes in the government, it’s an honour and a privilege.
