Subject: Treasury Board approval of changes to the Public Service Superannuation Regulations (PSSR)
Details
Treasury Board Ministers approved changes to the Public Service Superannuation Regulations governing the payment of pension transfer values, effective April 30, 1997. These changes were outlined in Treasury Board Circular 97-1, dated February 27, 1997, and the Treasury Board Information Notice dated July 12, 1996.
Further details are described in a Superannuation Administration Manual (SAM) Special Bulletin dated April 30, 1997 which will be distributed to benefits specialists in your area by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
Payments
Enhancements to the Pension Support System are in place for the processing of transfer value estimates and payments. PWGSC is conducting training sessions on the new procedures and is in the process of contacting benefits specialists in your area to arrange a session.
