The
annual IM Community Recognition Award was established by the Information Management (IM)
Champions Committee in 2004 to acknowledge and honour excellence in shareable
IM practices and leadership, and to uncover, recognize and share these
exemplary practices.
The
accomplishments of the IM community in enabling the management of information
within the federal government are critical in supporting the broader Government
of Canada agenda.
By
formally acknowledging significant accomplishments, the IM Community
Recognition Award:
- Recognizes a cohesive community that comprises a variety of related
disciplines;
- Encourages
collaboration on joint initiatives and the creation of work and tools that can
be shared and reused;
- Acknowledges
innovation and leadership in IM; and
- Reinforces
community support and motivation.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees,
who can be individuals or teams, and their projects or initiatives must meet
the following criteria to be considered:
- Nominees must be
federal government employees* and occupy a position that is below the Director
General level (i.e., IM practitioners, specialists, and/or leaders).
- The nominated project
or initiative must have been completed within the last 18 months or be a work
in progress that has made significant and measurable progress.
- No previous government-wide awards should have been received for a
particular nomination.
- Results of the
project or initiative must be at the departmental or enterprise-wide level.
Assessment Criteria
Nominations
will be broadly assessed by the evaluation committee according to three
categories:
A.
Leadership
at all levels
- Recognizing
the extraordinary achievements and/or efforts of individuals who, with a
combination of human qualities and exceptional skills, have exemplified
outstanding leadership in the pursuit of performance excellence.
- Recognizing
the achievements and/or efforts that have impacted the IM domain at the
departmental and/or enterprise level.
B.
Community
building
- Recognizing
individuals or teams who, through their ongoing commitment, work with others to
address critical IM community issues by exhibiting cooperative and
collaborative approaches and/or by establishing strategic partnerships.
C.
Shareable
business improvement
- Recognizing
individuals or teams that have a positive and sustainable impact on the IM
domain as a result of their efforts through the creation of tools, programs,
and/or services.
Multiple
Awards and Categories
More
than one award may be presented if equally meritorious nominations are
received.
Jury
members reserve the right to change the category in which nominations are made
should a nomination be best suited in a different category.
Nomination Guidelines
Nominees can be individuals or a group of individuals. Nominations
may be made by peers, supervisors, clients, or partners.
