Occupational Health and Safety

The Labour Relations and Compensation Operations (LRCO) Branch provides advices and strategic policy direction on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to departments and agencies of the Core Public Administration, named in Schedule I and Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act, in establishing and managing their OHS program. It monitors departmental application of OHS policies and standards.

LRCO also works with Health Canada's Workplace Health and Public Safety Program to ensure that the Public Service Health Program and its various services protect the health and safety of the employees of the Core Public Administration.

The Branch supports the development of a functional OHS community, represents the employer on the OHS Committee of the National Joint Council and provides information and interpretations on the Canada Labour Code, Part II, and the Government Employees' Compensation Act.
