About IMD

The TBS CIOB Information Management Division (IMD) leads the government-wide pursuit of excellence in Information Management in order to ensure GC information is safeguarded as a public trust and managed as a strategic asset to maximize its value in the service of Canadians. IMD provides strategic direction and oversight of major horizontal initiatives to address shared IM challenges and works with departments and agencies, to provide strategies, standards and practices that improve the management of information across the GC enterprise.

Priorities of the IMD include:

  • Strengthen information management practices for the Government of Canada
  • Lead enterprise-wide transformation to improve IM as in internal service
  • Enable smarter investments in information management
  • Improve stewardship of Government of Canada information assets
