National Joint Council Commuting Assistance Directive - Cyclical Review

Subject: National Joint Council Commuting Assistance Directive – Cyclical Review

The purpose of this bulletin is to invite departments to submit proposals for consideration in the upcoming triennial review of the National Joint Council Commuting Assistance Directive (CAD).

In preparation for the review, managers are requested to provide opinions on the adequacy and clarity of the existing Directive with specific recommendations for any changes considered necessary or desirable. It is recommended that this request be brought to the attention of managers and financial officers who are responsible for the daily administration of the Directive.

Input must be sent in writing, via email and/or regular mail, which shall include the following necessary information:

1) Subject:  Proposals – Commuting Assistance  Directive

2) NEW Article / Module / Appendix
– provide a point form explanation

3) REVISE Article / Module / Appendix;
– cite the existing article/text and provide a point form explanation to support revising the article/text.

4) DELETE Article / Module / Appendix;
– cite the existing article/text and provide a point form explanation to support deleting this article/text.

It is important to note that all proposals will be considered; however Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat reserves the right to include/exclude departmental input for purposes of negotiation.

In order to ensure full consideration of  the recommendations made by your department, it is requested that consolidated departmental recommendations be submitted  no later than December 29, 2008 to:
