Envelopes, Letter, White (Arms of Canada)

These technical specifications (T-251) set out the requirements for white letter envelopes, for departments identified by the Arms of Canada signature and the Canada Wordmark. Consult your Federal Identity Program coordinator for more information.

Requirements

  1. Paper
    • Reproduction method: offset printing or letterpress
    • Envelope size: Nos. 9 or 10 envelope
    • Colour/grade: white bond
    • Brightness: 92% (95% ISO brightness)
    • Weight: 75–90 g/m2 (20–24 lb.)
  2. Symbols
    • Signature typeface: Helvetica Light
    • Signature type size: 9 or 10 point
    • Canada Wordmark: 30 mm wide
    • Ink colours: text and Arms of Canada are black (Process Black) and flag symbol is red (Pantone 032)
  3. Return address (use is optional)
    • Signature typeface: Helvetica Light
    • Type size: 2 points smaller than signature type size
    • Position: directly under the text of the signature and separated by one line space
  4. Layout
    • The signature is in the upper left corner of the front of the envelope.
    • The top of the Arms of Canada is 8 mm from the top edge.
    • The signature text starts 38 mm from the left.
    • The Canada Wordmark is centred on the envelope flap, facing right-side up when folded.
