Government and Parliamentary Operations

Government and Parliamentary Operations Directorate provides analysis and advice on resource allocation for:

  • the effective use of resources;
  • program design, viability and responsiveness;
  • funding pressures and mitigation strategies; and,
  • broad government operational issues and management strategies.

Responsible for:

  • The Treasury Board Secretariat, other central HR agencies (Canada School of Public Service, Public Service Commission, Public Service Labour Relations Board, Public Service Staffing Tribunal) and other related organizations (Public Servants Disclosure Protection Tribunal Canada)


  • Agents of Parliament (Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, Office of the Auditor General of Canada, Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada, Office of the Public Service Integrity Commissioner);


  • Parliamentary entities (Senate, House of Commons, Library of Parliament, Senate Ethics Officer, Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, Parliamentary Budget Officer of the Library of Parliament);


  • the Privy Council Portfolio (Privy Council Office, Canadian Intergovernmental Conference Secretariat, Public Appointments Commission Secretariat, Security Intelligence Review Committee);


  • the Finance Portfolio (Department of Finance, Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada;


  • the Canada Revenue Agency;


  • Public Works and Government Services – Real Property and Parliamentary Precinct; and,


  • The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General
