Summary Tables

There are four government-wide summary tables.

General Summary - The first table identifies budgetary and non-budgetary Main Estimates by agency and Crown corporation and by type of Parliamentary authority (annually voted or statutory). Budgetary expenditures encompass the cost of servicing the public debt; operating and capital expenditures; transfer payments and subsidies to other levels of government, organizations and individuals; and payments to Crown corporations and separate legal entities. Non-budgetary expenditures (loans, investments and advances) are outlays that represent changes in the composition of the financial assets of the Government of Canada.

This table also includes the forecast of total expenditures associated with Consolidated Specified Purpose Accounts. The transactions associated with these accounts are reported as part of budgetary expenditures in the Public Accounts of Canada. While there are in excess of 30 Consolidated Specified Purpose in the Accounts of Canada, the Employment Insurance Account accounts for almost the total value of the consolidation entry. A complete listing of these accounts and a summary of the transactions associated with each may be found in the Public Accounts of Canada.
Budgetary Main Estimates by Standard Object of Expenditure - The second table shows the forecast of total expenditures by Standard Object, which includes the types of goods or services to be acquired, or the transfer payments to be made and the revenues to be credited to the vote. Definitions of Standard Objects can be found in the Introduction to Part II section.
Items for inclusion in the Proposed Schedule to the Appropriation Bill - The third table shows the Vote number, wording and Main Estimates amounts for all Votes that will be proposed to Parliament for approval.
Statutory Items in Main Estimates - The fourth table provides the current expenditure forecast for each statutory authority within a department or agency, for which a financial requirement has been identified.
