Trends in Levels of Effort (by File Type)

The bar graph represents trends in the number of hours devoted to three types of legal files over the last three years. The x-axis displays the three file types: legislative, advisory and litigation. The y-axis represents the number of hours (in thousands), ranging from 0 to 2,000.

There are three groups of bars; one group for each file type. Each of these groups has three bars representing the number of hours devoted to the file type each year from 2008-09 to 2010-11.

The number of hours devoted to legislative files was 243,659 in 2008-09, 245,446 in 2009-10, and 249,339 in 2010-11.

The number of hours devoted to advisory files increased steadily over the past three years: 1,299,353 hours in 2008-09, 1,427,924 in 2009-10, and 1,491,142 hours in 2010-11.

Litigation files also saw a steady increase in hours, increasing from 1,564,624 to 1,659,269, to 1,745,688 hours over the past three years.
