Canada’s Current Offshore Drilling Operations: A Senate Review In the Wake of BP's Deepwater Horizon Incident on 18 August 2010.
- The report examined the current status of Canada’s offshore oil and gas exploration and development industry, including the nature of the applicable regulatory regime(s) and Canada’s present offshore disaster response capability. The committee made six recommendations.
- The NEB did not table a Government Response, but is addressing Recommendations 3, 5 and 6 in an Arctic context through its Arctic Offshore Drilling Review. With respect to Recommendation 4, the NEB works with other regulators and agencies on an ongoing basis to improve the prevention of and response to oil spills. Recommendations 1 and 2 do not require action from the
Board at this time.
