Figure 4:  Departmental Spending Trend and the Economic Action Plan (EAP)

Figure 4, shows Infrastructure Canada’s Spending Trend for the last three fiscal years, i.e. from 2008-2009 to 2010-2011.  The graph highlights the figures for the Main Estimates, Planned Spending, Total Authorities, Actual Spending (Other than EAP), and Canada’s Economic Action Plan (EAP).

As shown in the graph, the spending trend of the department has continued to rise as follows:
In 2008-2009, the Main Estimates was $2.5 billion, the Planned Spending was $2.9 billion, the Total Authorities was $3.4 billion, and the Actual Spending was $2.3 billion.  There was no spending under Canada’s Economic Action Plan (EAP) in 2008-2009.
In 2009-2010, the Main Estimates was $4.2 billion, the Planned Spending was $7.1 billion, the Total Authorities was $5.5 billion, the Actual Spending was $4.2 billion, and the spending under Canada’s Economic Action Plan was $600 million.
In 2010-2011, the Main Estimates was $8.2 billion, the Planned Spending was $9.5 billion, the Total Authorities was $9.2 billion, the Actual Spending was $6.3 billion, and Canada’s Economic Action Plan was $2.7 billion.
