Reminder-Classification Grievance Resolution Process
Date: July 27, 2001
To: Heads of Human Resources
I would like to draw your attention to two recent Federal Court of Appeal decisions concerning two important procedural aspects of the classification grievance resolution process. I would be grateful if you would remind committee members of the obligations these decisions place on them.
- In its report, the committee must indicate the comparisons made with other positions for relativity purposes, and must state any differences. - Federal Court of Appeal, Chong et al.
- The board must give complainants the right to reply when information essential to decision making has been supplied by management - information that the complainants could not reasonably expect to obtain - Federal Court of Appeal, Ted Bulat.
For further information on this matter, please contact Guy Bonneville at 952-3161.
