Open datasets: Official language obligations of some federal offices as of 2017-03-31

This dataset provides information on the language obligations of offices for approximately 180 federal institutions subject to Part IV of the Official Languages Act and the Official Languages (Communications with and Services to the Public) Regulations.

"Language obligations" refers to the obligation of an office to communicate with and provide services to the public in English, in French or in both official languages. The obligations of offices are reviewed periodically, and the information contained in this dataset is as of March 31, 2017.

This list excludes offices that are outside Canada, offices of Canada Post, routes, toll-free long distance services, and some offices for security reasons (e.g., the Canadian Security Intelligence Service).

The contact information of institutions (addresses, telephone numbers) is not updated instantaneously on this dataset. Persons using this information should visit the institution’s website for up-to-date contact or look up an office using the "Find offices" feature.

Available formats

This information is published in CSV formats and is part of the Government's Open Data Portal. The portal offers machine-readable formats, enabling citizens and private sector and non-government organizations to leverage this data in innovative and value-added ways.
